I watched a movie tonight called “Something borrowed”. I thought it would be a movie about the item, that the bride borrows but the movie is nothing like that! It is about two people, who have loved one another for years. But due to one event it turned out different, the guy is going to marry her best friend!
The scene, which made the event turn is in a bar. The guy and the girl sits opposite of one another. They are about to touch each others fingers, but her best friend sits down next to the guy and tells him to ask her out. He hesitates, she out of shyness and embarrassment tells her best friend that they are just friends. He stares at her in a way that shows that he is surprised. Her best friend tells him boldly to ask her out.
The movie is getting worse, just before the actual marriage the guy and girl are together and she out of the blue tells him that she liked him when they were studying. A few scenes later he tells her that she should have told him earlier. Now the ice breaks and they both can’t stop hiding their feelings for one another. This is going to go badly for the best friend, but her best friend does not deserve to be her best friend because it always looks like she is using her. How can something go wrong in this way?! And even further in the movie the guy starts to look like a jerk. Oh well…
But a few things in the movie makes me think about certain things? I have turned 30 years old this year just like the girl in the movie. Did I ever have a crush on someone and just said out of the blue and out of shyness: “He’s just a friend!” Perhaps I have, but as I have mentioned before being dense is what I do as a defence mechanism.
Line of today: “What ifs or what should I do in the present, the now?”
